Independence Day Party

We had a blast at this year’s Independence Day party. Kids (and adults) made 4th of July flags, played in the water tables, rocked out with songs for seeds and more. What a great way to officially kick off summer at apple seeds!

Music Together sing-a-long

June 14th, 2010

A nice addition to apple seeds and a great chance for families who take Music Together here to get to know each other, the sing-a-long had a huge turnout with lots of singing, playing and dancing to our favorite songs from the past few semesters. If you're a Music Together family and missed the free event, keep your ears to the ground in the fall for another sing-a-long.

Madison Square Park Kids Fest (spring 2010)

apple seeds was once again proud to be a co-sponsor of Kids Fest, an amazing (and FREE!) event for families. This spring, we hosted activities from our build it! break it! fix it! and OOOHHH...AAAHHH...IIICCCKKK classes, listened to songs for seeds perform, and made sure everyone who attended had a great time. Thanks to all the families who joined us... we're already looking forward to the next Kids Fest.

apple seeds family week

April 19th - April 24th, 2010

This past semester, apple seeds hosted its first family week! We invited all of our moms and dads to join us for special activities, both in class and on the playground. Some of the highlights were getting to watch our tiny dancers perform at their recitals, displaying all the creative works by our artists at the gallery opening and seeing what our builders have been making and scientists have been inventing at the build it! break it! fix it! / OOOHHH...AAAHHH...IIICCCKKK fair. A big thanks to all our families who made the first family week a success!

We can hardly believe we're 3 years old already. To thank our families, we threw a birthday party featuring a songs for seeds concert, birthday hat designing, face painting, build it! break it! fix it! activities, a puppet show, and of course - CAKE!

At this end-of-semester combination fair, we got a chance to see wonderful works of art from our future artists, build pipes and play in sand tables and play with floam and slime in our OOOHHH...AAAHHH...IIICCCKKK "laboratory."

Holiday Party

We couldn't think of a better way to wish all of the apple seeds' families a happy holiday than to throw a party for them - so we did! We had art projects, science activities, a songs for seeds concert, and more. We already can't wait for the next holiday season...

Halloween (2009)

The annual Halloween party gave our seedlings (and staff!) a chance to dress up as their favorite character. There was a songs for seeds concert, Fun Dough play room, snacks and more! We were also proud to hand out UNICEF boxes for trick-or-treating at apple seeds and at home.

Madison Square Park KIDS FEST (fall 2009)

Since fall 2006 apple seeds has co-sponsored Madison Square Park's KIDSFEST. We are always proud to participate in this amazing event for families as well as support our favorite park. This fall, we made fossils, fitted pipes, and even got to hear songs for seeds play on the main stage. We hope to see you at the spring 2010 Kids Fest!

Public/Private School Seminar

September 30, 2009

apple seeds, along with Big City Moms, Smart City Kids, and insideschools.org, hosted a Public/Private School Seminar. This seminar gave parents a better understanding of the types of schools in both the public and private sector that are available to NYC children, as well as the process of registering or applying to these schools.

Rbaby Mother's Day Run/Walk

apple seeds was proud to co-sponsor this amazing fundraiser event for the Rbaby Foundation. The Co-Founders and their kids participated in both the run and the walk, while apple seeds staff manned the arts and crafts section where kids (of all ages) made cards for their mothers.

This semester we combined our popular art gallery show with a science fair. The emerging artists from my Chelsea art opening and apples & crafts "showed" their work in our very own apple seeds art gallery setting. Children and parents got to experience our OOOHHH...AAAHHH...IIICCCKKK "laboratory" with slime, static electricity, balance, outer space and so much more. Students, family and friends enjoyed food and drinks while admiring the art masterpieces on the walls and experimenting.

Earth Day

April 22, 2009

apple seeds celebrated Earth Day with creative green crafts projects (creating bio-bugs from biodegradable styrofoam), Earth-day themed story-time and a songs for seeds concert. Plus, apple seeds donated 10% of the entire week's class registration profits to the charity Healthy Child, Healthy World.

Oral B Blogger Event (2009)

February 21, 2009

apple seeds was proud to host this event presented by Oral B. Pediatric dentist, Dr. Laura Jana spoke to parents about kid's oral health while the little ones enjoyed the playground. Afterwards she taught kids (and parents) how to brush and they all enjoyed special gift bags.

Book Signing Party with Michele Wong McSween (2009)

January 24th

apple seeds member Michele Wong McSween debuted her new children's book Gordon & Li Li Words for Everyday. Along with Mandarin Treehouse, we celebrated Chinese New Year with this amazing book while children created themed art projects.

Halloween (2008)

October 31th

Our annual party brought kids in costume to apple seeds. The science room was transformed into the "bat cave," pumpkins were painted in art, we held a bake sale to benefit Cookies for Kids' Cancer and mr. Ray performed music from songs for seeds.

Book Signing Party with Ming & Wah Chen (2008)

October 19th

Authors and twin sisters Ming & Wah Chen and illustrator Mariko Jesse visited apple seeds to share their new children's book Ling Ling Looked in the Mirror, along with their first book, Sassparilla's New Shoes. After the readings, families met the authors and illustrator and created art projects based on the books.

Play for the Park (2008)

January 27th

apple seeds was proud to host the first annual Play for the Park fundraising party. All the profits from the event directly support free programs for kids in Madison Square Park. Families were treated to cookie decorating (and eating) with Eleni's, face painting, balloon animals, OOOHHH...AAAHHH...IIICCCKKK science experiments and 4 amazing concerts by...Mr. Ray, AudraRox, Paul Helou and Erin Lee & Marci. And…the incredible food was done by Country. Yum…

my Chelsea art opening Gallery Show

Every semester the emerging artists from my Chelsea art opening and apples & crafts "show" their work in our very own apple seeds art gallery setting. Students, family and friends enjoy food and drinks while admiring their masterpieces on the walls as well as their entire semester's worth of work in their own personalized art portfolios (which they take home of course). Breastfeeding Nutrition Seminar—Eating for Two (2007)

June 15th

Certified Nutritional Practitioner, MaryAnn Scandiffio of Bravado Designs (who outfitted the apple seeds nursing lounge) lead this luncheon on healthy eating when eating for two. Other participants included Belly Dance Maternity and Mothers & Menus.

The Nest Baby Launch (2007)

May 18th

apple seeds was the location for the celebration of the birth of the website, TheNestBaby.com. Attending families played in the playground, participated in activities from COOKing monsters and my Chelsea art opening, enjoyed entertainment and music from Music Together teacher Pete Heitmann, had photography sessions with Sarah Merians of Kids & Co. and enjoyed cocktails/mocktails, organic eats and kid's food from Kid Fresh and a diaper lounge sponsored by 1800-Diapers.
